Staying Full of Joy during Tough Transitions

Tatyanna M. Wilkinson Music for Girls, Relationships, Women's Wisdom, Workshops 2 Comments

I want to share something personal with all of you.

It’s a new dawn

It’s a new day

It’s a new life For me

And I’m feeling good

I am about to move out of a comfy house I have rented with my partner and our 2 kitties. My companion of 6 yrs and I are ending our relationship. Our friendship is strong, yet I will miss all the rest.

There is sadness, sporadic chaos, stress and fear. But, you know what? There are also moments of laughter, fond memories, love and surrender. You want to take a guess which of these are winning out?

Smart Girl, Wise Woman  was created to help YOU, young women, transition through a part of your lives which is full of change. Full of you becoming you. Full of letting go of what is no longer serving your highest self. It feels a bit like fate that I would also be going through a change at the same time I launch my workshops. Don’t you Think?

This morning a friend posted some music on Facebook, that led me to this Nina Simone tune that I have heard many times before. Yet, there was something about hearing it today, in that moment that resonated with me. Take a listen, then we will talk more.

For the next few weeks, these lyrics will be my “mantra” or theme song.

Birds flying high you know how I feel
Sun in the sky you know how I feel
Breeze driftin’ on by you know how I feel

It’s a new dawn
It’s a new day
It’s a new life
For me
And I’m feeling good

Fish in the sea you know how I feel
River running free you know how I feel
Blossom on the tree you know how I feel

It’s a new dawn
It’s a new day
It’s a new life
For me
And I’m feeling good

Dragonfly out in the sun you know what I mean, don’t you know
Butterflies all havin’ fun you know what I mean
Sleep in peace when day is done
That’s what I mean
And this old world is a new world
And a bold world
For me

Stars when you shine you know how I feel
Scent of the pine you know how I feel
Oh freedom is mine
And I know how I feel

It’s a new dawn
It’s a new day
It’s a new life
For me
And I’m feeling good

I’m feeling good!

I’m am grateful for all of the blessings that change and transition brings. I am only becoming more of myself. Spreading my wings wide.

How do you deal with transition in your life? What do you do to stay “full of joy”?
